The centerpiece of the Ceredo-Kenova AutumnFest is the famous Pumpkin House, which has become one of the favorite tourist attractions of West Virginia. In 1978, the Pumpkin House began with only 5 pumpkins carved for a Halloween display. Since then, the number of hand-carved pumpkins has grown to 3,000.Each year Ceredo and Kenova welcome nearly 30,000 visitors to the Pumpkin House. Over the years, we have watched children that have visited the Pumpkin House grow to have children of their own that they now bring to see the display. Each year Ceredo and Kenova welcome nearly 30,000 visitors to the Pumpkin House. There are still plenty of reasons to add a pumpkin patch visit to your autumn bucket list this year—and sometimes, the drive alone is worth the trip.

Chef John Currence’s flagship restaurant is filled with delightful Southern fare. (You can never, ever go wrong with the shrimp and grits here.) Currence is also an owner of hotspot Boure, a slightly more casual approach than City Grocery. The restaurant serves Creole-inspired food like fried shrimp po-boys and crawfish and shrimp pot pie. Again, don’t overlook the drinks – the Lane Train (Four Roses bourbon, Cointreau, orange peels, lemon and bitters) and a pickle martini are both A+ options. The town is filled with world-class dining, and most of the best eateries are on the Square or nearby. Saint Leo is a must-try while in town, whether you enjoy it for brunch, lunch or dinner.
The Pumpkin House on Beech Street is on the banks of the Ohio River near downtown. The Pumpkin House has been a Kenova destination for nearly 30 years, with no charge to any visitor and no donations accepted either. But if you insist on spending some money, you can hit up the food trucks out front.
Jason Ekers says it’s a lot of work but he is happy when he sees how kids light up when they come to visit the Pumpkin House. The displays still have a way to go before the end of the week but visitors are welcome to stop by and see what is currently on display, especially at night when the pumpkins are all lit up. Aside from fall fun, Kenova’s Pumpkin House is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The property was once owned by Joseph Miller, who served as the IRS Commissioner under President Grover Cleveland.
Once all this work is done, they’ll start lighting up the pumpkins and putting them on display. The Ceredo-Kenova Autumnfest will start Oct. 27 and the displays will be up until Nov. 2. This is a lot of hard work for volunteers like Pearl “Fox” Heaberlin, but he said it’s worth it. “We have an additional part of the show with the pumpkin orchestra and choir that will be a pixel light show above it that depicts whatever the music is playing,” Griffith said Thursday afternoon. (WOWK) — The Kenova Pumpkin House is a fall tradition for many in West Virginia and beyond, but it will only be on display for one week in 2023. From ATV excursions in small towns to scenic drives across the state, West Virginia is made for everyone.
Pumpkins disappear, Monday as the line of people attack the pumpkin pile at the pumpkin giveaway during the Pau Hana Market at the Kukui Grove Center. But it's the fresh, hot cider that'll keep you coming back for more, not to mention the stunning views from the back of the property. Here are some of this year’s pumpkin patches around Southern California. As you have probably already gathered, Oxford is filled with history. Author William Faulkner is buried there, and people leave Jack Daniels on his tombstone in his honor.
